Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-11-03

These terms are an agreement between you and Liv (legal entity name pending) for using the Liv app. By creating an account you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect, including product analytics (on by default; turn it off in Settings → Usage Analytics).

Who can use Liv

You must be at least 18, able to form a binding contract, and pass our identity check before meeting people, liking, messaging or buying Premium (until then you can only browse rooms). One account per person. Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.

Liv opens one area at a time. Until your area opens you can build your profile and wait on its list; we decide when each area opens and may let people in in groups, in the order they joined. A beta key lets one person in; it is personal to the person it was given to share with, can be used once, and may not be sold. We may cancel keys that are sold or misused.

What Liv is, and isn't

Liv introduces people looking for roommates and rooms. We are not a landlord, broker or real-estate agent, we are not a party to any lease or living arrangement, and we don't guarantee any member, room or outcome.

Identity checks, photo checks and lease checks reduce risk but can't remove it. Meet in public first, visit a room before paying anything, and never send money to someone you haven't met.

Your conduct

Be honest about yourself and any room you list. Only list a room you have the right to rent or share.

Don't harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone; don't post anything illegal, sexual, hateful or misleading; don't scam, spam, solicit money, or use Liv for commercial purposes; don't scrape, reverse engineer or interfere with the service.

Housing law, including fair-housing law, applies to you. Liv's preference settings exist to help people find a compatible shared home; they must not be used to break the law.

We may remove content or suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk.

Rooms you list

You are responsible for every room you list on Liv: that you have the right to rent, share, sublet or hand it over, and that listing it follows your lease, your building's rules and local law (for example rent-regulation, subletting and short-term rental rules).

For a sublet or lease takeover, you must have every permission your lease, your landlord or the law requires before you list it, usually your landlord's written consent. You confirm this when you list it. Liv doesn't check that permission: a lease check only confirms that there is a lease, not what it allows.

Liv isn't a party to any sublet, lease takeover or roommate agreement, and isn't responsible for whether one is allowed. If someone makes a claim against Liv because of a room you listed without the right to, you agree to cover Liv's reasonable costs of it, including legal fees, to the extent the law allows.

Your content

You own what you post. You give Liv a license to host, show and process it to run the service, which ends when you delete it or your account (except where others already received it, such as messages).

Premium

Liv is free to use. Liv Premium is an optional weekly subscription. Its price is shown before you buy, is charged to your Apple ID (iPhone) or Google Play account (Android) when you confirm, and renews automatically each week unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current week. Manage or cancel it any time in your Apple ID subscription settings or in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions; deleting the app or your account does not cancel it.

There are no other fees. Prices may change; a new price never applies to a subscription period you have already paid for, and Apple or Google asks for your consent where required.

Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple or Google Play, so refunds are handled by them under their policies: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com, or in Google Play (play.google.com → Order history). Where the law gives you a right to a refund, nothing here limits it.

Ending your account

You can delete your account any time in Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, with notice where it is safe to give it.

Disclaimers and limits

Liv is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages or for the conduct of any member, on or off Liv. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if more. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Disputes

Please contact support@theliv.app first; most problems are solved that way. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes and contact

When these terms change, the app shows you what changed the next time you open it and asks you to agree. If you don't agree, you can delete your account in Settings.
